Construction of Sagrada Familia Towers Begins

The announcement came from Jordi Fauli, who has served as chief architect on the project since 2012. He stated that the construction is still on schedule for a 2026 completion as it was announced two years ago. This date coincides with the 100th anniversary of Gaudi's death and 144 years after the first cornerstone was laid in 1882.

Some uncertainty arose when Fauli said, in regards to finishing touches, "It’s difficult to predict but we can say that it will be completed by 2030, 2032." Whenever exactly Sagrada Familia is complete, the "Tower of Jesus Christ," the tallest of the six towers under construciton, will guarantee the height record for the church, which will surpass Ulm Minster in Germany by roughly 10 meters (33 feet).
