This is a house with a home elevator completed in Tokyo. The client lives alone in a small building on the main street where he used to run a store, and he also owns land on the back street. He decided to sell the building and live in a small house on the back street.
The lot size was about 19 tsubo, which is a standard area for a family of four in Tokyo, but he was currently living alone in a four-story building. The client wanted a house that was as spacious as possible on this site. Therefore, we decided to obtain basement relaxation to increase the total floor area, as a three-story building would not be sufficient under Tokyo's strict height and floor-area ratios. The exterior was designed in the triangular shape typical of Ishikawa's office, and the height limitation of the road was circumvented with the sky coverage ratio. The building also received an increase in the building pay ratio by making it a quasi-fireproof building. The interior consists of a bedroom and a closet in the basement, a small Japanese-style room and a bathroom on the first floor, and a living/dining/kitchen on the second floor. The first floor and basement tend to be dark, but we solved this problem by creating a small courtyard. The courtyard faces the small Japanese-style room on the first floor and the light well next to the entrance, and the light well leads natural light into the basement.
Also, one of the requests was the installation of a home elevator, considering that the residents will age in the future. By making this elevator shaft a glass wall, light is brought in through skylights, bringing light into each floor.
