In the quadriptych a model moves across primarily concrete backdrops, all famous buildings in Southern California. As described by Hazel at NOWNESS, "The protagonist ... is isolated in an otherworldly universe. She wanders alone through a barren and lifeless landscape as she carries with her the tree of life."

Some of the architectural settings include:

  • Geisel Library at University of California San Diego by William L. Pereira & Associates
  • High School #9 for the Visual and Performing Arts in Los Angeles by Coop Himmelb(l)au
  • Revelle College at University of California San Diego by Risley & Gould
  • Salk Institute of Biological Studies in La Jolla by Louis I. Kahn
