Single-family house in Solingen

 Back to Projects list
Location
Solingen, Germany
Year
2011

This house on a hill has two faces. Towards the road it appears as a bungalow and towards the garden as a two-storey edifice with terrace. Once again, residents live here in the upper floor and sleep at the garden level.

A two-story single-family house for a family of four was to be built on a rural hillside site. Due to this hillside location, living takes place on the upper floor and sleeping on the garden level. The house is positioned transversely to the slope in order to provide all rooms with sufficient sunlight and fresh air. Due to this geographical condition, the house looks like a one-story bungalow when viewed from the street and a two-story terrace house when viewed from the garden.
