Administrative building Ara Bern

The building integrates all sustainability aspects, both in its architecture and exterior design. It is Minergie-P-Eco certified. By its compactness, it is perfectly integrated in its context, creates a dialogue with surrounding buildings and respects the close-by natural reserve. It is a “work of art, yet unadorned”. The building uses existing heat sources for heating and captures ground water for cooling. The ground floor has three large openings, which allow the penetration of nature into the interior space. The two stories are connected by an atrium. From outside, the building thus appears as a homogenous volume, resting on a transparent base.
