This project shows the new headquarters of the Asian Infrastructure Investment Bank (AIIB).
The nine inner courtyards are illuminated from a clear height of 80 m from the roof structure without glare, and without any disturbing cones of light appearing on the inner façade. The striking side edges of the ceiling design, which continue from the outside through the façade into the interior, are worked out as a defining feature. Among other things, the significant, diffusely radiating lanterns were used to accommodate a component for ceiling edge illumination. These important, space-structuring lighting fixtures, 3.5 m high, are located in the main lobby and on the bridge structures. The aim was to design the external wall in such a way that the lighting does not radiate beyond the edge of the storey, but at the same time creates a striking building line around the building. The voluminous office building (GFA 256.872 m2) with its transparency and complexity was effectively emphasised by the lighting design and accentuation and creates the conditions for readability and clarity of the building, especially in the dark.
