Formerly dispersed in several separate locations within Berlin, theFederal Institute for Risk Assessment (BfR) merged in 2011. Its new base in Berlin-Charlottenburg offers optimised operational sequences and working conditions for its 700 employees.
The main objectives of the Federal Institute for Risk Assessment can be summarised with risk diagnosis and health protection. Spacious office and laboratory facilities as well as conference and catering areas are distributed over two buildings.
A striking new building houses the laboratories while the adjacent existing building accommodates the offices. Both are connected by a transparent bridge on the fifth floor.
The layout of the new building follows the master plan and is well integrated into the overall context of berlinbiotechpark. Confidently it strengthens the architectural concept for the future park entrance.
Therefore the new building not only meets the highest functional and economic requirements of a flexible laboratory building but also satisfies great representative demands.
