The project focus on the renovation of a residential building from the 1970s; it aims to adapt existing spaces to new contemporary living needs, redefining the main environments and seeking a new relationship with the context.
Functionally, the spaces have been completely reorganized, maintaining the existing structure.
From the entrance located along the east side, you enter the main room of the house, where a natural wood equipped wall defines and organizes the division of spaces, masking various service elements inside. The smooth concrete flooring on the ground floor favours an approach of continuity between inside and outside; the same material was used to create the new static consolidation pillars, which were kept “exposed” in order to declare their structural nature.
In the northern part of the ground floor, the service spaces and the study have been placed, providing a secondary access in correspondence with the parking space, protected by a concrete porch.
The new large openings frame the surrounding hilly landscape, favouring the natural lighting of the rooms during the day. A second exposed concrete porch identifies and protects the entrance.
The volume of the building is regularized, redefining the elevations by creating new openings and a new flat roof. On the first floor, the sleeping area consists of a large double bedroom with bathroom, two smaller bedrooms and an independent bathroom, characterized by the use of wood for the floors, fixtures and furniture, creating a more intimate and private home space.
