Moving Space is an interior design project for the media lab of Beijing Institute of Fashion Technology. It is manifestation that the theory of intertextuality is applied in architectural design. The project declares that structure of one building is not unchangeable anymore but it can be changed at any time to adapt to different types of intended use. This also represents a concept of media, interactivity.
The space was a room only for fashion show. In the limited space, our design team was challenged to fulfill a room with functions of lecture hall, fashion runway hall, small theatre, motion space & photography lab, workshop and exhibition. To achieve the objective, many techniques are utilized, such as movable and suspended curtain wall, reverberation, adjustable lighting system, conversion layer. At last, we not only fulfill the requirement but the functions can be implemented at one time with 9 types of combination.
