In the new "Production and Logistics Center Europe" of the GEMÜ Group, all flows of goods within the Group are brought together at a central location in order to ensure even faster, customer-specific assembly and direct delivery thoughout Europe optimizing the worldwide availability of all products.
GEMÜ is a leading world-wide manufacturer of valves, automation components and other piping products. GEMÜ valve designs and instrumentation are used successfully in a variety of applications, such as in the field of water/waste water treatment. These applications range from sea water desalination, to drinking water treatment and the treatment of Water for Injection water. The company also offers high-grade solutions for distribution and dosing applications in the fields of chemical process technology and microelectronics, as well as the beverage industry. Thanks to its expertise, GEMÜ is the world market leader for sterile applications in the pharmaceutical and biotechnology industries.
The "Production and Logistics Center Europe" has been put into operation in September 2013. The state-of-the-art new building is a milestone for the integrated supply chain strategy of the GEMÜ Group: All processes from the purchase of raw materials to delivery to the end customer are fully integrated. Components and subassemblies for the valves are being stored in the new plant, order-specific production, final assembly and testing of the components and systems are being realized in the same place. After the order has been received, final products are sent directly to the dispatch department. Now the pan-European delivery to customers is a matter of less than 48 hours.
A completely new masterplan for the 10 hectare site in Kupferzell with direct motorway connection was developed. The new building meets the functions of manufacturing, assembly, administration and logistics in an exemplary manner. A forward-looking, modular concept has been developed, which anticipates expansion options for all areas, including the requirements of building services. It anticipates logistical and technical relationships within a harmonious and expressive architecture. The first phase includes the integration of highly automated logistics and conveyor technology in the work process and forms the basis for further development possibilities at the new location. A uniform corporate design has been developed for façade design, which is being put into practice worldwide in all GEMÜ factories.
