RBS Underground Station Bern

 Back to Projects list
Location
Bern, Switzerland
Year
2025

The new RBS Underground Station replaces an existing station, having reached its capacity limit of 60’000 passengers. Two new tunnels below the existing SBB level provide space for rail lines and two 200-meter long passenger platforms to be connected to the existing upper levels via escalators. The station is a centrally located, key transport hub in the RBS network. A finely ribbed structural surface separates the two spacious tunnel spaces and gives the station a highly recognizable quality.

The new RBS Underground Station will assist in the realization of the overall masterplan “Future Central Station Bern”, which also includes the extension of the SBB Public Spaces above. The implementation of the technically complex project is taking place without disruption of ongoing rail service at the station.
