A Meeting Place

This village of 100 inhabitants, in the middle of nowhere, had the great fortune of being called Pueblo Bolivar, which is why President Chávez, on a visit to Uruguay, learned of its existence and decided to sponsor a project there. Thus arose this new pavilion for a civic center that houses a multi-purpose room, clinic, public bathrooms, locker rooms and playgrounds. This will be the new center of town, their meeting area.

The building is located in a nice, calm landscape, with pleasant views and a soccer field. As the residents are of modest means, with very few resources, durability and low maintenance were essential.

The resulting form is simple, austere, in reinforced concrete and brick, with windows and 'bars' made of Lapacho wood.

The prism is formed by four separate entities separated by passageways, where the volume is perforated and dissolves a little so that people can cross through. The building wants to be a civic place. A meeting place.
