The organizers of the second MPavilion have revealed AL_A’s design: "an enchanting, highly technical and weather-responsive forest canopy set among the trees and flowers of Melbourne’s Queen Victoria Gardens."
AL_A, the firm of British architect Amanda Levete, was selected in April of this year to design the pavilion, the followup to Sean Godsell's inaugural pavilion. Her design is made up of carbon-fiber poles supporting translucent "petals" that will sway with the wind. Each petal will have light and sound technologies built into them: LEDs that will glow like halos in the evening and microphones and speakers that will record sounds during the day and play them back at night.

AL_A is collaborating with Australia's mouldCAM and Kane Constructions on the pavilion's fabrication and construction, respectively, and Arup for engineering. A mockup of the petals can be seen below in the photograph and short film on this year's MPavilion.
The 2015 MPavilion opens 5 October in Melbourne's Queen Victoria Gardens.
