La Cage Aux Folles by Warren Techentin is on display at Materials & Applications (M&A) until August 30, when it will serve as a backdrop for Werner Herzog's short "Nobody Wants to Play With Me" and "Le Roi et L'oiseau," a classic French surrealist children's cartoon. Techentin's design is inspired by Mongolian yurts, but in lieu of the small wooden rods that make up those traditional structures the installation is made from steel tubes that define both space and structure. The "cage" occupies M&A's Silver Lake courtyard to provide an armature for sitting and for climbing.

Xavier Veilhan. Architectones Barcelona Pavilion will close on August 31 after its two-month run at Mies van der Rohe Pavilion. In his seventh and final Architectones exhibition, Parisian artist Veilhan has placed sculptures of the nude figure Aina in different sizes and materials (wood, foam, metal) throughout, linked by a wood walkway that cuts diagonally through the pavilion from the basin with Georg Kolbe's Alba statue to the middle of the outdoor pool. Previous Architectones pieces occupied VDL House by Richard Neutra's VDL House in Los Angeles, Konstantin Melnikov's eponymous house in Moscow, and Le Corbusier's Unité d'Habitation, among other modern masterpieces.
