After a second full day of keynotes, project presentations, tours, and other events at the 2016 World Architecture Festival in Berlin, the winners in sixteen categories were announced.
As described yesterday, WAF, now in its ninth year, is set up in a unique crit format, in which architects that were shortlisted in the various typological categories present their projects in ten minutes to a two- or three-person jury, which then asks questions about the project. Broadly the categories fall into two general types: Completed Buildings and Future Projects; winners in the former are in the running for Building of the Year, and those in the latter vie for Future Project of the Year. Day two winners are highlighted below in alphabetical order by Completed Building category, with Future Projects winners listed at bottom.
On day three, the winners from the first two days will present their projects once again, this time to the "Super Jury." The announcements of the "best in show," as WAF director Paul Finch calls it, will happen during the awards dinner this evening; stay tuned for the announcement of those.
