Aqua Marina is the proper name of a beautiful, bright, two-storey apartment in the museum district of Amsterdam. It is located in a historic building from 1879 with a view of the Vondelpark and was transformed into a modern dream home by interior designer Evi Om on order of the owners. For this, Evi Om uses the knowledge of her academic design training and couples this with international influences. She is not afraid to combine different styles so that the result is a unique and yet balanced atmosphere.
The main task for the designer was to bring generous room situations with more light and air into the apartment in an old building. This was achieved by designing zones and rooms each in its own colour combination, integrating not only the furniture but also all surfaces such as floors, wall panelling and ceiling mouldings. The kitchen with dining area is decorated in blue-green aquamarine tones, with custom-made cabinets and large work surfaces in Calacatta marble look. In the living room, bright grey colours are combined with furniture in high-gloss, dark cherry colours. Mirrors on the walls give the room generosity and openness. The bedroom is decorated in bright colours and has an unusual chandelier; a pink bed creates a link to the colour combination in the bathroom. The design focus there is on a rose-gold wall mosaic combined with white marble-look tiles and copper lamps. The guest toilet sets an accent in the bright design of the apartment - black wall panelling there meets a particularly lush wallpaper with a floral pattern and flowing stone mosaic on the floor.
The LS 1912 switch range in the Dark version was selected for the Aqua Marina apartment to match the old building ambience. The special feature of the switch made of dark lacquered aluminium is a toggle lever with a slightly old-fashioned look. The dark colour of the switch contrasts nicely with the bright colours for example in the living room or is in keeping with the colours of the fittings, furniture and spotlights in the bathroom. The LS 1912 toggle switch in glossy stainless steel puts the icing on the cake for the eccentrically designed guest bathroom. In the colourful kitchen, the simple and timeless classic LS 990 in white has a more restrained design and blends in.
