2016 Venice Architecture Biennale
Atelier Pagnamenta Torriani invited to "Time Space Existence" International Exhibition.
There, Lorenzo Pagnamenta and Anna Torriani launched the Shaping Public Space (SPS) initiative and research project which aimed to reflect on the nature of public space.
We created a pavilion and video entitled “SPS”.
The pavilion, built locally with wood, cork and strings, was an intimate space within the main exhibit. The video, which showcased our own public/civic work in New York City and abroad, offered a spatial and temporal glimpse into our design process, highlighting our research, concepts and synthesis.
The installation also had an interactive component — visitors were asked to respond to three questions via the video and physical sketchbooks:
1_What is public space?
2_What makes a space public?
3_What is your favorite public space?
APT has compiled all the written answers received during the six months period of the 2016 Biennale.
