The Eimsbüttel vocational school in Hamburg is an architectural fusion of tradition and modernity. The densely built-up core area of the district is characterized by its multifaceted history and diverse architectural styles. The new building continues the architectural vision of the renowned Hamburg architect Fritz Schumacher.

At the heart of the new four-storey building is a two-storey cafeteria, which functions as a market hall, multi-purpose hall and all-day area and harmoniously combines the old and new buildings. The design combines warm wood and textile surfaces with raw exposed concrete, creating an inviting ambience with industrial charm. Mobile partition walls allow the light-flooded first floor to be flexibly divided into separate areas to accommodate events.

The learning floors, accessible from the cafeteria and connected to the old building via a glass joint, offer a modern learning environment. The technical term "compartments" describes the open teaching areas, which can be used flexibly and differentiated through zoning. This enables individual and practical lesson design as well as flexible adaptation to different teaching situations.

A sophisticated guidance system in the colors green, blue and orange, derived from the logo of the Eimsbüttel vocational school, ensures clear orientation within the school building. These colors can be found not only on the ceilings of the compartments, but also in the staircase core and the seating to enable quick and safe navigation.
