A typical Burgundy farmhouse, set on a large terrain needs extension that will about double the house. The family asked for a large extension, both upstairs and downstairs. We designed the extension as a spiral. It is a succession of rooms that connects the more public living room on the ground floor to the more private bed rooms of first floor of the house. The spiral contains a living room extension, a study, two guest rooms with bathroom, a play room and a kids bedroom. The spiral creates an intimate patio, a sloping roof garden. It not only extends the house, it also extends the families way of life, creating a continuous ‘loop’ for living.
