The Pritzker Architecture Prize has released a short film with highlights from this year's award ceremony honoring architect, educator and social activist Diébédo Francis Kéré.
"What the Pritzker Architecture Prize has awarded me is courage — courage to keep pushing and I want to encourage others, everyone, with the vision and mission to keep pushing as well. As long as I am capable, I will inject enthusiasm, joy and imagination into my architecture, into everything that you will commission of me, just like Africa has taught me to do."
Watch the short, six-minute film on Francis Kéré, the 2022 recipient of the Pritzker Architecture Prize, featuring pre-recorded reflections from previous laureates — among them Anne Lacaton and Jean-Philippe Vassal (2021), Yvonne Farrell and Shelley McNamara of Grafton Architects (2020), and Kazuyo Sejima (2010) — and insights from members of the prize jury, as well as some of Kéré's own remarks from the May 27 ceremony held at the Great Hall of the recently opened Marshall Building, London School of Economics and Political Science, designed by Grafton Architects:
Or watch a 43-minute film from the Pritzker Prize with the same commentary from previous laureates and jury, as well as longer remarks by jury chair Alejandro Arevana, Tom Pritzker of the Hyatt Foundation, and Kéré himself:
