Severin's Spa & Resort Sylt
Keitum, Sylt, Germany
The 5-star Severins Resort and Spa in Keitum on Sylt leaves nothing to be desired, even for the most discerning guests. Visitors can choose between various room categories, apartments, and guest houses. Three restaurants – two open to the public and one exclusively for hotel guests – a bar with a lounge, and a wine cellar offer culinary delights of the highest caliber. Events of all kinds can be held in the event and conference areas, which are equipped with state-of-the-art technology. Guests can find relaxation in the spacious wellness area.
In addition to the interior design concept, we also co-developed the Severins brand, which the hotel operator Zech Group launched on Sylt for the first time in 2014. The hotel's design reflects island life on Sylt: classic and modern, blended with ease and joie de vivre. The idea behind the Severins brand is to give guests the feeling that the hotel has always been there – it should radiate a sense of natural belonging. The complex, consisting of a main building and six adjacent apartment houses, was planned by an architect based on Sylt. With its thatched-roof construction, it exudes a typical regional charm – especially since Keitum is a village on Sylt known for its traditional architecture. Since we were commissioned relatively early in the process, we were able to co-design the entire spatial program. For instance, we expanded the basement area, which houses all the technical facilities and delivery zones, ensuring that these essential operations remain out of sight for guests.
For the interior concept, we were guided by the question of what guests in the luxury segment expect on an island like Sylt and how to create a balance between privacy and sociability for this clientele. The result is a hotel with a finely tuned balance between architecture and service, which has since become a hotspot among 5-star establishments in Germany. Inside, the story of the typical Sylter house continues: The furnishings are both cozy and classic, with attention to detail. Warm colors, plenty of natural materials, high-quality finishes, custom-made furniture, and Italian design combine to create a harmonious overall atmosphere. In contrast, the wellness area has been designed with a more modern aesthetic, offering a counterpoint to the classic ambiance in the rest of the spaces.
